Roof collapses on Shipston housing development

HEALTH and safety inspectors are investigating the collapse of a dividing wall, chimney stack and roof trusses on a Shipston housing development.

The collapse occurred between two newly built, attached houses that are among 26 social dwellings the Wates Living Space company is constructing in London Road for Jephson Housing Association.

Health and Safety Executive (HSE) officials are investigating the incident that happened sometime overnight between Tuesday, January 19 and Wednesday, January 20.

The houses, built shortly before Christmas, were unoccupied as the development is not due for completion until summer.

A spokesperson, for Wates Living Space, said: "We can confirm there has been an incident at the London Road development.

“We can confirm no-one has been injured and at present the development is unoccupied.

“We are currently investigating the incident and are co-operating fully with the HSE."
