A local optometry practice has successfully been shortlisted in the ‘Family Optician of the Year’ category of the upcoming national Optician Awards.
Walford and Round Opticians, who have six practices across Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire, fought off stiff competition from other independent and chain opticians to reach the final five businesses in their category.
Co-director Michael Round commented: “We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for the awards, especially as we were competing with a huge variety of practices all over the country.
“The Optician Awards are well-known within our industry and offer very prestigious titles. We always strive to achieve the best possible care and outcome for every client, regardless of their age or visual condition, and are very excited about the possibility of having this formally recognised with a national award.”
The ‘Family Optician of the Year’ award is intended to recognise and reward a practice that has family values at its heart, not only in appealing to families of clients but also employing family values in its day-to-day management. The successful business in this category will be able to demonstrate the importance of eye care for the whole family, either by evidencing ‘cradle-to-grave’ treatment of clients or care of successive generations within the same family.
Co-director Jonathan Walford added: “Several of our clients have openly said to us that they chose us to look after their eyes because we also cared for their parents and perhaps even grandparents before them.
“A large proportion of our client base come to see us regularly with their families, whether they are elderly relatives or young children. We are proud of the reputation we have created as an excellent family-friendly optician and are very much looking forward to attending the Awards in April.”
Walford & Round Opticians was first established in 1927. Jonathan Walford & Michael Round took over the ownership of the practice from their fathers seven years ago, and the business now has practices in Banbury, Brackley, Coventry, Shipston-on-Stour, Stratford-upon-Avon and Solihull.
